I was born and raised in Victoria, BC where I could enjoy the west coast lifestyle. I was fortunate as a child to have played in the Little League World Series in baseball and later enjoyed success in football and rugby. Football led me to Simon Fraser University where I earned my Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
I started a 20-year banking career immediately after graduating, first with Household Finance for a year then with National Trust/Scotiabank for 19 years.
Banking was a great experience for me; I benefitted from working in branches, head office, regional offices and lastly in private banking which gave me the skills and experiences that I draw upon today to help meet a wide variety financial problems.
I have continued my education by obtaining financial planning designations that include the Certified Financial Planner, Canadian Investment Manager and the Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute. I am a licensed Life and Living Benefits agent as well as a registered Dealing Representative with Raintree Financial Solutions.
My wife and I have been together for over 35 years since our high school days. We raised two children and now have beautiful grandchildren that we adore. As you get to know me, you will discover that I rarely work a weekend. I would much rather work hard during the week and spend quality time with my family and friends on weekends at my cabin in Golden, BC.
I view myself as an educator – finance is complicated and it’s my role to help you understand, in plain language, the pros and cons of financial decisions. From mortgages and investment funds to complex estate or business planning and everything in between, there is no financial question too trivial that you should not ask.
