Raintree Financial Solutions

Raintree Financial Solutions is changing the way Canadians think about investing their money.

Prosperity isn’t just grown, it’s cultivated.

We are committed to building your wealth responsibly by helping you achieve a well-balanced, diversified portfolio. As an award-winning Canadian Private Capital Market Dealer, we scour the market to make available what we consider to be the best alternative investments. We also help investors find traditional investments by referring them to Portfolio Managers.

Founded in 2010, we have placed over $1 billion* into alternative investments. We’ve also referred over $600 million to Portfolio Managers through our network of Private Wealth Advisors in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec.

Our Investment Philosophy: Core + Explore™

We have created an investment strategy called Core + Explore to try and address many shortcomings of the old “60/40” portfolio. We believe that for investors to achieve enhanced diversification, they will need to include private and public investments in their portfolio:
Core: The traditional part of a portfolio. These securities tend to be more conservative, liquid, and market-oriented. We believe the best way to invest in the ‘Core’ of your portfolio is through a Registered Portfolio Manager that resonates with your investment circumstances and philosophies.

+

Explore: The alternative investment component of the portfolio. These private investments tend to be riskier, but can deliver portfolio diversification and have the potential to produce outsized returns.

Portfolio Benefits

Imagine buying a car and only having three options: a truck, a car or a minivan. Now imagine that they only come in one colour – as Henry Ford said about the original Model T in 1909, “you can have any colour as long as it is black”. This would turn an exciting purchase into a very dull and unfulfilling experience. Unfortunately, this is how we perceive the old 60/40 (stocks/bonds) balanced portfolio model. It might fit some clients, but today we think a Core + Explore™ portfolio is optimal.
We operate by making recommendations about private investments from the ground up, tailored specifically for each client’s needs and future.

Why Invest in Private Companies?

Limiting event driven portfolio exposure, the potential for higher, risk adjusted expected returns are just some of the reasons why clients should consider private investments. All of these can be potential benefits of investing in private or alternative investments, but they may not be of every investment. Every client should work with one of our Private Wealth Advisors prior to making an investment in order to fully understand the risks inherent in making these investments. They are trained in assisting in this evaluation process and are registered Dealing Representatives with the securities commission in their operating jurisdiction.

Resource Centre

Information and education are fundamental to our organizational values. Our Resource Centre was built to provide everyone, including investors and the investment funds we represent, with access to our selection of marketing materials and questions and answers.

Exempt market investments are not guaranteed and are not covered by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation or by any other government deposit insurer. Investment products sold in the exempt market are considered high risk because:

  1. They are not covered by deposit or investor protection insurance;
  2. Regulators do not review any of the offering documents for completeness and, in jurisdictions where an Offering Memorandum is filed, Regulators may not review them for completeness or accuracy;
  3. Issuers of exempt products are not subject to the same ongoing disclosure obligations as public issuers;
  4. Many exempt products are not as liquid as publicly-traded securities;
  5. Exempt products are often subject to a greater degree of “key person” risk than more widely held securities;
  6. They are purchased pursuant to an exemption from the usual protections accorded to investors in publicly-traded securities and under a prospectus offering; and
  7. There may be risks other than these related to the specific investments purchased. It is the Dealing Representative’s obligation to discuss or otherwise provide the Client with access to information relating to some of those risks.

There can be no assurances that the investment will be able to maintain its net acquisition value or to produce projected income. Investment values change frequently and past performance may not be repeated.

Using borrowed money to finance the purchase of securities involves greater risk than a purchase using cash resources only. If you borrow money to purchase securities, your responsibility to repay the loan and pay interest as required by its terms remains the same if the value of the securities purchased declines.
